SHIMLA, Jan. 7 -- School students can heave a sigh of relief as the content in National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks will be reduced by 10 to 15% from academic year 2019-20 as part of HRD ministry-prodded rationalization exercise undertaken to relieve youngsters from "curriculum overload".

Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, who chaired a meeting of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) general council on Saturday, said the target is to achieve a 50 % reduction of the "curriculum overload" without affecting the learning outcomes.
