Chandigarh, Jan. 2 -- Panjab University (PU) is yet to appoint new dean research after SK Tomar was removed from the post on December 8, 2018.
The Syndicate had decided to remove Tomar from the post as he was chosen by vice-chancellor (V-C) Raj Kumar on temporary basis. The post is held by the second senior most professor of the varsity.
The Syndicate, after discussion for a few hours, had resolved that the post will be filled only on the basis of seniority. Panjab University Teachers' Association (PUTA) had submitted a memorandum to the V-C objecting to Tomar's appointment asking him to follow the seniority. Following this, Tomar submitted his resignation on December 9.
