Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- Two Chinese nationals, suspected of smuggling several insects species from the Hortan plains national park, noted as being as a world heritage site , have been arrested on suspicion.

Police noted that the two suspects had 10 species of beetles in their possession.

The raid was conducted following a tip off received by the park ranger of Hortan plains national park.

The suspects are to be produced before Nuwara Eliya Magistrates court .

Meanwhile, a historic fine of 10.84 million rupees was imposed on 5 foreign nationals recently for the attempted smuggling of fauna and flora from another world heritage site, Sinharaja forest.
