Sri Lanka, Jan. 16 -- The Appeal filed by former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and his cabinet challenging the Interim Injunction issued by the Court of Appeal, that prevented them from functioning in office, was taken before the Supreme Court today.

The lawyers appearing on behalf of the 122 respondents including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, informed Court that they would consult with their clients to withdraw their Quo Warrantor petition.

Accordingly, the 3-judge bench ordered that the petition be called on February 6th.

Additionally, the Quo Warrantor petition filed by the 122 UNP MPs was also taken before the Court of Appeal today.
