VASCO, Jan. 16 -- A house in the thickly populated New Vaddem area caught fire resulting in loss of Rs 4 lakh.
The house of Nazareth Rebello situated near the Noorani Masjid at New Vaddem caught fire on Tuesday morning. The fire was first noticed after the neighbours smelled smoke in their areas. By the time they could spot the fire, a section of the house had caught fire. The neighbours called the fire department for help at around 9.43 am. The fire fighters took at least 2 hours to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the neighbouring houses.
Furniture, home appliances and storage furniture was destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
