Guwahati, Jan. 14 -- The elephant has been declared as a heritage animal in India. Human beings and elephants have lived for ages in harmony. Elephants are regarded as god and since time immemorial, elephants and humans have lived together. This has metamorphosed into an age-old bonding ' Haati mera saathi (elephant is my friend). However, in the past two years, human-elephant conflict (HEC) in Assam has gone out of control with casualties in both human and elephants are shooting up.
