India, May 1 -- An Indian army column that had nabbed 11 members of the radical group Arambai Tenggol, along with a large cache of weapons, were stopped by women protesters in Manipur who then snatched the men from the army's custody, said officials. Though Manipur Police confirmed the incident in a statement, it did not name the 11 men or reveal the identity of the people in the mob. The police, however, confirmed that the army's Mahar regiment caught 11 "armed miscreants dressed in police fatigues" and were returning after the operation when the women grabbed the 11 men. The army had recovered 3 AK-series rifles, 5 INSAS, 2 SLRs, 2 hand grenades and bullet proof jackets from the men. "It was a planned blockade. But the column managed to keep the weapons safe," said an official.HTC...
