Sri Lanka, May 8 -- The Supreme Court delivered a significant verdict on Wednesday (May 08), declaring that State Minister Diana Gamage lacks the legal qualifications to hold a seat in Parliament.

The court's decision came after concluding the hearing of an appeal challenging the Appeals Court's dismissal of a petition questioning State Minister Diana Gamage's parliamentary membership. Following the proceedings, which commenced on February 13, the judge bench opted to defer its verdict indefinitely.
