Sri Lanka, Feb. 10 -- Petronet LNG Ltd, India's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) company, is set to commence supplying LNG to Sri Lank, starting with container shipments loaded onto ships, and later progressing to the construction of an import terminal, as revealed by its chief executive on Thursday.

The decision comes as Sri Lanka seeks to procure gas in liquid form to meet its electricity generation and industrial requirements. After years of discussions with Petronet and other suppliers, Sri Lanka has now reached an agreement to purchase LNG from the Indian firm.

Petronet CEO, Akshay Kumar Singh, disclosed that the company plans to ship 850 tonnes of gas daily to the island nation in containers weighing 17 tonnes each. These suppl...
