Goa, April 30 -- Deputy Director of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, Dr. Kalpana Mahatme, has reported a significant spike in vector-borne cases in 2024 compared to the previous year. The year 2024 has seen a rise of 77 cases, contrasting with the 24 cases reported between January and March 2023.

The primary cause of this surge has been mosquito breeding in water stored in quarters for migrant workers. Dr. Mahatme, along with health officials, underscores the urgent need for proactive measures to prevent water accumulation in and around households.
