Dar es Salaam, April 13 -- TANZANIA: MORE than 50 people have been reported dead following the ongoing heavy rains in various parts of the country, which have also caused massive damage to homes and other infrastructures.

The rains have also left about 126,831 people in dire need of vital services.

The Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr Mobhare Matinyi, said that, according to police reports, between April 1 and 11, this year, a total of 19 deaths related to the heavy rains were reported in some regions including Lindi, Njombe, Tanga, Coast (Mkuranga and Kibaha), Manyara, Mbeya, Geita, and Rukwa.
