Sri Lanka, March 11 -- A university student, who fell into a precipice of 10 feet, while on a hike on Alagalla Mountain, was yesterday rescued by the Army and hospitalised with serious injuries, it was reported.

The incident occurred when a group of 2nd Year students of the Technical Faculty of Wayamba University, were climbing down the mountain, after camping on the mountain the previous night. Following receipt of the distress call, soldiers of the 8th Sinha Regiment Camp in Beragala, Kegalle, reached the location from where the victim was found about 3 km, from the base of the mountain and brought him down in a 3-hour long operation.
