Sri Lanka, April 23 -- Senior Professor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Peradeniya University, Ashoka Dangolla said that the Faculty which is conducting tests on the possibility of inserting loop contraceptives into female toque macaques to prevent pregnancy, has created a small loop for that purpose.

He said that earlier tests were done by connecting a loop of this type, but due to frequent contractions of the female toque macaque's uterus, the loop was pushed out, so the tests failed.

He said the new loop has been created with modifications to remedy that problem.

The newly created loop will be inserted into a female toque macaque at the Peradeniya University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine this week.
