Sri Lanka, May 8 -- The Cabinet approved a proposal by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha for the digital transformation of general education with the support of the Chinese government, the Government Information Department said in a statement yesterday.

The department said that the Chinese government has agreed to provide for the project, following a feasibility study and the proposed project is expected to mitigate several issues such as the shortage of teachers and resources. Under the project, the Chinese government will assist in providing classrooms, data centres, tables, a studio and a conference room.
